The proposed new build Study Centre is to replace an existing facility at Whatley Quarry, Somerset. The Centre’s primary function is to provide a teaching resource for groups of school children (primary & secondary) and adults to learn more about the landscape, geology, geography, history, industry and industrial archaeology of the East Mendip hills.
The building is traditionally constructed (high thermal mass & thermal efficiency) maximizing natural daylight with a Ground Source Heat Pump (supplying underfloor heating & hot water) and a Ventilation Heat Recovery System. Energy supplied via a 6KW Wind Turbine providing 15000 KWh per Annum.
