Whilst at Associated Architects Mark Kingsley was the Project Architect responsible for all aspects of the design, construction and project realization associated with approximately half of the new Hippodrome development.

The Birmingham Hippodrome is Britain’s leading independent theatre and the home of Birmingham Royal Ballet and DanceXchange. The Centenary Development built a new infrastructure around the existing theatre’s 1900 seat auditorium and stage house providing new facilities which include a 200 seat studio theatre, dance studios, new front of house, dance injury clinic and various hospitality suites, restaurants and bars. A new get in and rear stage area was also constructed which contains the only vehicular lift of its kind in the UK; 20 metres long x 5 metres wide with a 50 tonne capacity. The building serves as a model of excellence in design, accessibility and public art.
